Event Description

ABOUT SURVIVORS AT THE SUMMIT...

For the past 19 years, hundreds of individuals affected by cancer and their families and friends have gathered for Survivors at the Summit, an inspirational event that Symbolizes the challenges individuals face during the cancer journey; Pays tribute to their courage and determination; Honors the memory of those whose lives have been cut short by cancer, and  Raises funds to support the quality of life programming provided to members of our community, at no charge.

TRIBUTE FLAGS

Modeled after traditional Tibetan prayer flags, Tribute Flags honor those who are affected by cancer, survivors and those who have passed away. Each flag, sold for $25, is hung at the top of Peruvian Gulch at Snowbird Ski & Summer resort during our event.  They are made available for viewing as hikers, runners, mountain bikers, and lift riders meet together at Peruvian Gulch to participate in a Celebration of life ceremony. Each flag is lovingly returned to the person who purchased it following the event as a keepsake from this powerful and often life changing experience. PURCHASE YOUR FLAGS HERE

RENEGADE RIDERS

In an effort to embrace more of the community, and inspired by a recently passed Cancer Wellness House member, we are celebrating the 2nd Annual Survivors at the Summit Renegade Ride. Riders will meet at CWH downtown and make the 30 mile ride to Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort. Breakfast for riders will be served at Cancer Wellness House prior to the ride start time. Lets make the canyon RUMBLE!

PANCAKES ON THE PLAZA

Snowbird and Cancer Wellness House invite sponsors, donors, hikers, members, survivors, families and the general public to the annual Pancakes on the Plaza breakfast from 9-11am. CWH volunteers team up with Snowbird’s chefs to offer steaming plates of mouth-watering pancakes and delicious bacon to fuel your journey to the top.  Additional breakfast tickets may be purchased for $5 each.

THE JOURNEY

HIKE, RUN, RIDE OR CATCH THE TRAM

The Journey, NO MATTER HOW YOU MAKE IT, symbolizes the individual “Summit” each person with cancer faces and strives to achieve. Join us on this 3.5 mile trail ending just below Hidden Peak in honor of the person in your life that has been touched by cancer. A sea of personalized Survivors at the Summit  Tribute Flags will welcome the participants as they arrive. Those who are unable to make the journey by strength of body may make it in strength of mind and spirit by riding the Peruvian Lift at no additional charge.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE CEREMONY

For many, the ceremony on this day will be one that perhaps words can not describe. For those of you seeking those words the Celebration of Life Ceremony features inspirational speakers and live entertainment as you view the hundreds of flags flying on the mountain side. These flags are truly the heartbeat of this event and carry beautiful heartfelt messages for all to see.
