Event Description

The Catalina Film Festival is the Catalina Film Institute's annual celebration of film on Southern California's only resort island, featuring more than 100 films, nightly events and entertainment. From Charlie Chaplin to Marilyn Monroe, celebrities and filmmakers have flocked to Catalina for inspiration. Clear blue water and coastal breezes provide the perfect backdrop for unparalleled premieres, yacht and mansion parties, industry networking and discovering everything that the island has to offer just 22 miles off the coast of Los Angeles.

Films are screened at multiple venues around the island, including the iconic and art deco 1,200-seat Avalon Theatre; the worlds first sound movie theatre. The Catalina Film Festival is a competitive festival with film awards in multiple international and domestic categories, including its prestigious talent honors with the Charlie Chaplin ICON Award, Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation "Great Communicator" Award, Stanley Kramer Social Artist Award, and the Wes Craven Horror Film Award.

Past recipients have included Sharon Stone, Nicolas Cage, Patricia Arquette, William H. Macy, F. Gary Gray, Andy Garcia, Emmy Rossum, Mena Suvari, Kate Bosworth, Billy Zane, Stan Lee, and many more.
