The Art Of Blending

By Paul David, Wine Pairings

When you select a wine for your enjoyment, do you reach for a Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir Syrah or Chardonnay or do you explore some of the wines that are blends of different varietals? Follow Paul-Michael David owner of Winepairings as he explores the world of Blended wines from their historical prospective and why they have become the backbone of some of the world's most respected wine regions such as Bordeaux, North and Southern Rhone. With the new era of wine Renaissance since late 1980's into today's hot viticulture regions both the new and old world blended wines have received admiration of consumers and critics alike. We will look into the reasons for this beyond the hype, where & why it has worked, and taste a few examples just for fun. With your new insights you will be more comfortable exploring some of these great wines in the future.

Paul is founder and owner of Winepairings wine concierge service, established in 2002 to provide personally vetted fine wines to his clients for any occasion, from fine wine and food pairing dinners to everyday consumption and cellaring strategies. He has served as a judge at the Denver International Wine Competition and provided educational programs at our previous festivals. The wine itself is perfumed with fresh scents and mirrored flavors of Ranier cherry, peach and poached pear. Rich and broad with bright, balancing acidity on the palate and a lingering mineral finish.
